Nighttime with Havana Club

It's after midnight and quiet. Working on a longer mix of funkier tracks but, in the meantime, at this early hour, here are some slower musical moods.

Ghana: Ramblers International with High-Life Medley
Congo-Brazzaville: Orchestre Sinza with Il est né
Togo: Akofa Akoussa with I Tcho Tchass

Sorry-o for the poor quality pics. I'm still working with an old, bulky digital camera! One of these days I'll get a better, quicker model...

Man, that Akofa Akoussa track is something else!

Glad you're liking it! I'll put up more Akofa soon.

Peter thanks for this blog
Very nice.
I have passed the link around.

Welcome also to visit us at where we discuss african music.

I am very interested on Orch Boboto, Les As, and Beto Boto. I have a CD compilation with these bands and the few tracts are awesome. Do you have singles or LPs by them?

So welcome to see us at I am wuod kwatch on that community

Thanks again

Hi, I'm so glad I found your site. I'm a record collector who loves African music, so I'm going to be a regular visitor here. I wonder how possible it is to get this stuff shipped to Ireland, where in the world I could find originals of all this stuff? Do you have any idea?

Hi Jenny,

Finding originals is hard nowadays. In Africa, a lot of the vinyl has already disappeared; young people rarely know what a record looks like (cds and cassettes abound).

You can find reissues on various labels; Soundway Records does a great job at researching and finding the original artists.
