A while ago, (anonymous) G begged for more of The Peace. Well, you can find 8 tracks from the Black Power LP on Prog Not Frog. Peaceful Man is one of my favorite tracks but the whole album continues to wow me. Have a listen to "I have got no money" and "Ubalwa na chamba." Originally posted in 2005 on (now defunct) akwaabasound, a blog started with dj friends in Chicago, I don't remember when/how the other rips got to Prog Not Frog. They're there now (link in comments), so enjoy the other tracks. The Black Power LP is one I'd like to see reissued (AnalogAfrica venturing south to Zambia anytime soon?).
I'm posting a few more Zambian tunes in the same vein of gritty rock and funk, copperbelt style. There's not much information about these bands around; Cool Knights and 5 Revolutions were bands tied to Edward Khuzwayo's Zambian Music Parlour in Ndola. Blackfoot is a Goodson Nguni production; The Sentries' LP is a Teal Record Company release.
The Sentries - Sentry Connection
Blackfoot - Groovy Bone
Blackfoot - Sundie's Popcorn
5 Revolutions - Adaka Mwapulumuka Kunjala
5 Revolutions - You Don't Know Me
5 Revolutions - Respect Yourself
5 Revolutions - Kulemela Kwa Bambo Wanga
Cool Knights - Soul Bana Mulenga

Thanks for these Pieter. I stumbled across the following link after Samy from Analog said he was looking for some Southern African sounds, specifically the Ngozi Family. http://progressive.homestead.com/Africa4.html
Thanks for the link!

Hi Pieter,
Another amazing post, thanks so much. This is to let you know that I've launched a website devoted to East African 45rpm singles. It's at www.kentanzavinyl.com
Any info you and your many readers can add to the site will be much appreciated.
Best
Tim
Hi,
Sorry to say the links are dead. is there any chance of re-upping? I loved the Black Power album and would love to hear more Copper belt afro rock.
thanks,
Jon
Hi Pieter!!!
I am such a big fan of this kind of fuzzy funky psychedelic African rock. But while it might even be my favorite music genre, I don't have anything else than this internet-rip of The Peace - Black Power and The Witch - Lazy Bones on reissue. Do you actually have the record of the Peace? (wow) You think there is a chance of reissuing? Everywhere I go I let people listen and they go mad, it's such a shame it's not more known... And do you have any other names/information on this Zamrock?
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for these tracks, they are absolutely great!!!
And again thanks, the best,
Frank
Hi Pieter,
You've been silent for a long time now & we miss you. Any chance your coming back with another great post soon?
J
Thanks for missing me! I've been travelling (Belgium, Schotland, Mexico City, Chicago), and taking some vacation, so I'm not really looking at computer screens. I will post again, don't worry.
Pieter
Black Power has been reissued! I just bought a CD at my local rcord shop.
That's interesting! Can you give some more details? Who released it? Same tracks as the album?
Yes Same 8 tracks as the album. The label is Groovie (GRoo 001).
Here is the website of Groovie Records.

Pieter,
Just run into your blog by chance. Congrats for your fine work. Knew nothing about the copperbelt rock and thanks to you I could enter this universe.
"Groovy Bone" is absolutely killer.
Thanks and thanks.

Hi Pieter - I would definitely be interested in reissuing some the music you've posted here - it's really incredible! I just did the first Ofege on the Academy Lps label and am looking for more titles.
However, I have no ability to do so as I don't have any of these records or contacts. If you would be interested in working with me, or know anyone who would, please drop me a line at academylps@gmail.com
In any event, thanks so much for the clips - I really love 'em and the covers look amazing!

Hi, do you have anything by Paul ngozi or the ngozi family?
thank you
Hello Pieter, I was wondering if you have any original zamrock lps for sale? I'm obsessed with this music, but it seems so hard to find in any format. Let me know!
thank you
